About

Hi, I’m Rachel. I’m married to Matt and we have four children. We live in a house surrounded by farmland but very close to the vibrant city of Bristol, which we love. We share our home with a dog, two cats and a fabulous young woman who helps us with it all. And we sometimes share our home with vulnerable young people who need a bed for the night.

I love children and tea and singing and reading and crafting and writing and walking and making soap and the smells of grapefruit and mint. I love people and I love my own company. I love quiet mornings and reading in bed at the end of the day. I love watching the wheat grow in the summer and the log fire burning in the winter. I love old smelly books and decent pencil crayons and wool. And the really decent chocolate. I love spicy food and hot salads and lots of vegetables and cake and fresh coriander. All together if you like. I love God and the abundant life he gives me. I hold that in one hand, while in the other hand I hold the people who have no clean water or food and no healthcare and who live in fear and pain and suffering. I can rest in the peace of God but also not fully rest while so many people live in need.

I started writing this blog in 2013, as a way for me to share the beginnings of our home educating journey. I’m a passionate and devoted Mum, very blessed with four beautiful lives to nurture. Though there are other pleasures and interests in life, being a Mum is all I’ve ever really wanted to do, so I’m lucky to be able to spend so much time with our kids. But the older I get, the more I discover what else I love to do. And this space gives me the chance to share all of that too.
